Community Impact

The commitment of people and organizations to work together to make lasting change - that's community impact.

At United Way, we’re achieving community impact by identifying the root causes of key local issues, developing strategies to address them, bringing together the funding and resources needed to get the job done, and then measuring the results.

Our community impact work is advised through the Community Impact Council (CIC). This volunteer group is comprised of individuals and experts from various backgrounds within the community who have the skills and knowledge to help inform United Way activities and investments in community.

The Community Impact Council ensures the funds raised and activities undertaken by United Way go to support the 5 Regional Priorities identified as critical to the success of our community.

Within individual priority areas the Priority Impact Teams, volunteer groups managed by the Community Impact Council, learn about community conditions and review funding applications. Together, these teams identify emerging issues or gaps within each priority area where United Way, in collaboration with community partners, can take the lead in encouraging creative approaches to bring about positive change.

Measuring Our Community Impact

Through various models of evaluation and the reporting of outcomes by supported programs and initiatives, United Way is monitoring changes in community conditions. Our investments are strongly aligned with community priorities and desired outcomes, and over the next few years we will work to identify indicators to help us gauge change in these areas.
